To make technically very good wines that have honest expressions of varietal fruit. That’s my winemaking philosophy. – Rod Hooper

David Richards – Winemaker

He commenced as an Assistant Winemaker in 2010 when he moved to Langhorne Creek, and then as a winemaker in Mudgee. In 2014, David joined Beelgara in Griffith as a winemaker and moved to Orange after the Cumulus Estate Wines acquisition in 2015. David is an integral member of the Cumulus Wines winemaking team and has completed 17 vintages in 11 years, in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA & Turkey.

Post studies I had a thirst to continue my knowledge, which led me to travel, completing over 14 vintages world wide. This hands on experience has given me the ability to blend the best of traditional techniques with the most current wine techniques. This has given me a well rounded skill set that I am ever developing, which is evident through the wines I create. – David Richards
